The Disabled & Proud Conference is sponsored by Disability Rights, Education, Activism, and Mentoring (DREAM), a national student organization run by students for students. DREAM is based at the National Center for College Students with Disabilities, which is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education to the Association on Higher Education And Disability (AHEAD).
DREAM was founded at Syracuse University in 2011, before the NCCSD even existed. Disabled & Proud conferences happened in 2011 and 2014 at Syracuse University, and were based on the original Disabled & Proud conference in 1990 at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
The 2018 conference was online for the first time, with 400 people registered. It included a total of 18 plenary and breakout sessions, discussion groups, and a virtual Exhibit Hall. Participants had a variety of ways to connect. Visit the Disabled & Proud 2018 page for information about that event.
We hope to offer Disabled & Proud in the near future. Please join our mailing list, using the Contact Us link on this page.
